The Tammisto Arboretum Tammisto Arboretum is the most versatile and among the finest arboretums of Finland. There are about 250 different arborescent plants species represented in the Arboretum. Gustav Komppa (1867-1949), who founded the Arboretum was professor of chemistry at Helsinki University of Technology and Chancellor of the University of Turku. Komppa acquired the Tammisto Estate in 1919. His leisure activities included planting trees and bushes from different parts of the world. Many of them are rare and infrequently experimented on our latitudes. |
